Sunflower

Sunflowers are one of the few crops we can direct seed into the garden beds rather than growing as transplants.  They grow so quickly and aggressively that they outcompete the weeds!  We just have to watch out for the family of crows, groundhogs, and deer that has learned how yummy the sunnies are.

We harvest sunflowers from mid to late April - October or First Frost.

The darker varieties like Plum we grow only for late August-October or First Frost.

Vase Life= 7-9 days

Gold and Traditional varieties are dryable.
